So all of my adult katydids have just died, all found spasming severely on the floor. A couple of days ago my healthy sub adult female Achrioptera fallax did the same, and now one of my Haaniella sp. "Sibiyak" has started.
They are all seperate with this own foodplants, i cant tell what else it could be, this is the last thing i f@#%&%$ need right now, i cant cope with it...

I have no idea. This happened to all the D. gigantea in one of my enclosures/cages last year. All dropped onto the floor and had leg-spasms as if they had been chemically poisoned or something. Luckily, it was only my D. gigantea that suffered from this. To this day, I still don't know what caused it since all my phasmids were on the same foodplant.

Food plants from same source? Would suggest contaminated food.
Other ideas would be any air fresheners or vapour fly killers in the vicinity? Anyone using aerosols in the area? My daughter has been reprimanded for spraying impulse and sure in the living room (where my sticks are).
I had sick fancy goldfish last year. Could t work out what the issue was, as water was perfect. Husband had put a vapour fly killer on a shelf in the kitchen, where the fish were. Lost one fish, but other two recovered.

Could be a possibility for Harb but it cannot be considered as the definitive cause of the spams. As I said, my D. gigantea were being fed the same plants as my other sticks in other tanks, and they were the only ones who suddenly died from the leg-spasms. All my tanks are being kept in the same room and have good ventilation so it can't be that an airbourne chemical killed them, otherwise all my sticks in the other tanks would've suffered.

Well i lost all my katydids bar one pair which are not doing well, i rehoused my Haaniella sibiyak in an old tank from the attic with new substrate and foodplant, i cant cope with losing them, looks like 2 males and 1 female are dying.
My Achrioptera seem to have stopped feeding, the female that seemed to be dead and just barely twitching seems to have recovered, but hasnt started feeding again, whilst the others are getting thinner.
