The only thing thats keeping me back is the risk of this anaphalictic shock thingamajig, ive been stung be nettles, jellyfish, and other plants and stuff before and never had it, get sprayed regularly from phasmids and ive been inked by millipedes in the past so does that mean i dont get it?
Sounds nooby i bet but i dont know nothing about it near enough :/
Another thing i wanted to know is absolutly the most harmless scorpion available?
Thats the only thing im worried about really, understand their general care and all plus i handled and observed a few Euroscorpius in Corfu which was fun :P

More risk of being hit by a car while exchanging shoe boxes in Petsmarts car park

On a serious note though, its very unlikely, but possible.
I have been keeping scorpions for years and have never been stung.
Unless you are careless with them, you should not be either.
Most people who do get tagged describe it as similar to a bad wasp sting, depending of course on species.

I have a spare young Emperor scorpion here that you can have.
How can you possibly refuse a feebie

when i get back from brazil, im getting more roaches (especially hissers) and lots more scorps

the only ones who ever threatened to tag me was some of the more aggressive desert species.

forest scorps, emps etc. rarely (if ever) use their stinger on prey though will raise it faced with a larger threat (my hand) but they would rather use their claws

if treated with respect then they wont feel threatened.

I reckon your more at risk when you go abroad of getting bit or stung Morph im not the most careful of people but they dont just rush into to sting you they are pretty calm unless you wind them up to be honest i reckon emps are the most calm unless you end up with a blasted wild caught adult like i did that was a orrible thing lol

Thanks for the responces guys
Being stung by a jelly fish (twice  ) i was told its worse than a wasp sting, so ive got a rough idea :D
I handle all my inverts as delicately as i can, which is kinda annoying when a fragile stick insect is taking its sweet time wandering over your hand when you wanted it back in 10 minutes ago
As for the young Emperor i couldnt refuse
Well my parents could, im at that stage of BUGS IN has to equal BUGS OUT
Unless i could at least give you a couple of Gyna lurida roaches?
BTW i hear more people are stricken down exchanging mysterious shoe boxes in Pets mart than being eaten by great whites every year

More roaches are always welcome, you can never have too many :D

Not seen many great whites in Petsmart though, they must have enlarged the aquatics section since I was last in there

I would like to keep scorpions and tarantulas but my parents won't accept that they aren't all that dangerous. I can have as many giant centipedes as I want though lol :thumb:

I never handle my scorpions, but they've never been agressive towards me at all, they get out of the way sharpish when I put my hands in the tank (6 emporers in acommunity)
I guess other scorps could be different, but I think you'd need to provoke emporers to get tagged

You should never be in the position where a scorpion can sting you, I've kept probably hundreds over the last few years and I've never been stung. Never get your fingers close enough and there should be no risk.

Just over a week ago I when into a LPS and came out with two tiny slings. Most of my family thinks they are cute, but my dad was mental (as i was expecting). After a very stressful day of discussion... I can keep them :kp: :kp: !!!
Turns out that he didn't just dislike them, he realy is afraid of them, he isn't afraid of what they can do, just what they are.
I can keep centipedes because they are hardly ever mentiond by the media, so my family never developed a fear for them.
As for scorpions, still no luck, but i'm not too bothered.
Now I just have to convince them to let me have more
