I got the proof and the text pages came in black and white. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to fix. I want to see it in color now!

Very cool! Any idea on publication date? Or cost? I looked for a "pre-release" offer on Amazon and couldn't find the book listed there yet. I have reread your draft a dozen times now. I can't wait to see the color photos that goes along with the text!

I was going to make you wait till you saw it for the hybrid pic but there were a number of changes made to the text since you saw it and the Floridobolus ID was confirmed by a taxonomist through dissection of the gonopods of that rare specimen from an odd locale (though there is a chance it's not F. penneri but a new species). It would probably have been pre-released on Amazon already but the black and white problem has to be fixed first. Hopefully a week or two for pre-release (and then it takes a few weeks more to show up for Amazon.uk or bookdepository for international free shipping).

Excuse my ignorance, but I haven't seen it spelt "millipeds" before, is that an American spelling?

There's a little more to the story but for reference: Hofmman, R. L. (2000) Milliped or Millipede? Bulletin of the British Myriapod Group. 16: 1-2.

It's on pre-order at amazon and it may be a few weeks before it shows up anywhere else:

Amazon have it listed as "Milipeds in Captivity..." followed by (Milipede Husbandry) in brackets .

The bracket info is not in or on the book, I'm sure it's there in hopes someone looking for a millipede husbandry manual won't miss it. I wonder how often people search amazon for a millipede husbandry manual...

Perhaps that's why I am stuck with an Amazon Bestsellers rank of 5,811,502, I should have had a catchier title......

I'm sure marketing is a big deal but in this case it's just about subject matter (since neither of us have a marketing team). There's probably 3 people a year looking for a book on diplopod husbandry but less than that looking for a stag beetle survey's results. On regular Amazon your and my book have no rating at all :)

It is available with free shipping to the UK now but it won't be in stock unless someone actually orders one at some point :)

Just got my copy! Very good book indeed. Well worth the cost. Even my non-buggy wife liked it!
