Bear with me as I am a newbie, but today I received my 2 madagascan fire millipedes and sexed them. A male and a female. Well so I thought...... One was out exploring just now and it crawled onto my hand and it appeared that the gonopods seemed to be on the 12th segment (roughly the 12th, it made my eyes ache trying to count the segemnts on a moving millie). The millie measures 9 cm if that makes a difference? Thanks

Gonopods will be found on segment 7. An easy way to see the underside of the millipede is to place them on a piece of clear glass and observe from below. Though your millipedes might not be full grown, you should be able to see if you have a male and female.

Do you have a good millipede keeping book yet? Here are 2 I have and recommend highly:

Thank you for your reply, I do have a male and a female then. Thank you also for recommending some good books, something for me to add to my wish list.
