Fab! Does he bite you, or is he OK to handle? The one I handled at the reptile centre was a snow, about 10" long... very tame. Do they stay tame tho, as long as you handle them a lot, even my 6yr old held him too!! They wanted £55 for him.

even if it bite you ,you would feel it really, 10inch long ,proberly wiggle at first, then after few min will carlm right down ,best time to handle is 3-4 days after feeding,
5- 10min at a time
yes they tame vey well,

Nice snakes.

I am going to have a baby corn too. Ordered that about 2 weeks ago from Karen (Exotic pets). As I bought a lot from her in the past and I know she is very good. So I ditched the local reptile shop but went to her. She is going to take a few of her own breed to my house for me to choose. As I am not 100% having a snake as pet yet, she is willing to take it back if I have a few weeks keeping it and if it's still not comfortable enough. So it's kinda cool. I kinda excited about it but at the same time I am a bit worried.

I know what you mean Felix... the one I held was a little treasure.. wriggled around nicely, and I'd never held a snake before, so felt quite squeamish... but once I'd held him it was too late and I'd fallen in love!!

How big do they grow to and what sort of tank setup would I need?

They wanted £55 for him at rep centre... how much are they usually?

you dont really need a viv

you can quiet easily grow it up in a
clear plastic tub,(3-5litre lunchbox)
small hide,(coffe jar lid)
small water bowel,(pop bottle cap)
substrate kitchen towel paper,
small heatmat and thermostat, set to 82-84 at the hot end
feed hatchling every 4-5day on pinkie,
your find it will phoop in 3-4days
then 6-12 mths get larger tub or small viv ,
hope that helps

Your son is 8 years old? I am going to get one for mine too, who is the same age. After been to the reptile shop, the owner who also breed snakes told me the best is to get Hognose, but I asked on the board as well as talking to Shaz and Mirf, they both recommend Corn, so now I have made my mine up to have a corn.

jmurphy, I thought there are a few breeder down where you are? I read on the board in the past and they are from your way?

that pic is queite old, he now 11, yup i bred hoggies few years back,
but would say also go with a cornsnake,
wether you get from a shop or breeder ask or see the feeding record/
and look to see if its being done over time, not written like its just been done,
